System Center Operations Manager Pricing and Licensing April 5, 2007

Yesterday Microsoft publish the new prices for System Center Operations Manager 2007 (Opsmgr2007). The good thing is that the price is a bit lower for Opsmgr2007 if you look at the standard OML and the enterprise OML. Since Opsmgr2007 now also supports to monitor clients, a new OML has been introduces – Client OML and the price for this one is much lower that for a server. The only thing I don’t really like is that you need to by a client OML if you want to monitor switches, printers or other none Microsoft OS. Since Microsoft don’t give me any MP for these, I don’t think they should make money on it. If I want to have a professional monitoring for a switches for example, I need both the Client OML and a MP from Jalasoft or other 3-parties. This makes it a bit expensive to monitor these type of devices!
